            Summary: Upon ligand binding, G protein-coupled receptors, such as
            GPR161, activate cytoplasmic G proteins (see GNAS, MIM 139320),
            allowing the receptors to transduce extracellular signals across
            the plasma membrane into the cell. Phosphorylation of the receptor
            attenuates signaling (Matteson et al., 2008 [PubMed
            18250320]).[supplied by OMIM, Aug 2008].
            
            Transcript Variant: This variant (5) differs in the 5' UTR and
            lacks a portion of the 5' coding region. These differences cause
            translation initiation at a downstream AUG and result in a protein
            (isoform 4) with a shorter N-terminus compared to isoform 1.
            
            Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and
            genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the
            reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the
