TITLE Organization of human class I homeobox genes JOURNAL Genome 31 (2), 745-756 (1989) PUBMED 2576652 COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The reference sequence was derived from BI822268.1, BC013682.1 and AC004080.2. On Feb 25, 2011 this sequence version replaced gi:24497516. Summary: In vertebrates, the genes encoding the class of transcription factors called homeobox genes are found in clusters named A, B, C, and D on four separate chromosomes. Expression of these proteins is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development. This gene is part of the A cluster on chromosome 7 and encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor which may regulate gene expression, morphogenesis, and differentiation. Methylation of this gene may result in the loss of its expression and, since the encoded protein upregulates the tumor suppressor p53, this protein may play an important role in tumorigenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. Sequence Note: This RefSeq record was created from transcript and genomic sequence data to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on transcript alignments. Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene record to access additional publications. ##Evidence-Data-START## Transcript exon combination :: BI822268.1, BC013682.1 [ECO:0000332] RNAseq introns :: single sample supports all introns ERS025081, ERS025084 [ECO:0000348] ##Evidence-Data-END## PRIMARY REFSEQ_SPAN PRIMARY_IDENTIFIER PRIMARY_SPAN COMP 1-13 BI822268.1 1-13 14-1165 BC013682.1 1-1152 1166-1657 AC004080.2 14422-14913 c FEATURES Location/Qualifiers source 1..1657 /organism="Homo sapiens" /mol_type="mRNA" /db_xref="taxon:9606" /chromosome="7" /map="7p15.2" gene 1..1657 /gene="HOXA5" /gene_synonym="HOX1; HOX1.3; HOX1C" /note="homeobox A5" /db_xref="GeneID:3202" /db_xref="HGNC:5106" /db_xref="HPRD:00840" /db_xref="MIM:142952" exon 1..623 /gene="HOXA5" /gene_synonym="HOX1; HOX1.3; HOX1C" /inference="alignment:Splign:1.39.8" CDS 62..874 /gene="HOXA5" /gene_synonym="HOX1; HOX1.3; HOX1C" /note="homeo box A5; homeo box 1C; homeobox protein HOXA5; homeobox protein Hox-1C" /codon_start=1 /product="homeobox protein Hox-A5" /protein_id="NP_061975.2" /db_xref="GI:24497517" /db_xref="CCDS:CCDS5406.1" /db_xref="GeneID:3202" /db_xref="HGNC:5106" /db_xref="HPRD:00840" /db_xref="MIM:142952" /translation="
