The reference sequence was derived from BE247227.1, BM800110.1, U57650.1, U50040.1 and BC062985.1. On or before Sep 20, 2006 this sequence version replaced gi:113413517, gi:40254822. Summary: This gene is a member of the inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase (INPP5) family and encodes a protein with an N-terminal SH2 domain, an inositol phosphatase domain, and two C-terminal protein interaction domains. Expression of this protein is restricted to hematopoietic cells where its movement from the cytosol to the plasma membrane is mediated by tyrosine phosphorylation. At the plasma membrane, the protein hydrolyzes the 5' phosphate from phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate and inositol-1,3,4,5-tetrakisphosphate, thereby affecting multiple signaling pathways. Overall, the protein functions as a negative regulator of myeliod cell proliferation and survival. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) uses an alternate in-frame splice site, compared to variant 1, resulting in a shorter protein (isoform b). Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene record to access additional publications. ##Evidence-Data-START## Transcript exon combination :: BC099920.1, X98429.1 [ECO:0000332] RNAseq introns :: single sample supports all introns ERS025081, ERS025082 [ECO:0000348] ##Evidence-Data-END## COMPLETENESS: complete on the 3' end.
