reference sequence was derived from AI468419.1, BC125214.1,

Summary: This gene encodes a member of the Argonaute family of
proteins which play a role in RNA interference. The encoded protein
is highly basic, and contains a PAZ domain and a PIWI domain. It
may interact with dicer1 and play a role in
            short-interfering-RNA-mediated gene silencing. Multiple transcript
variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
            [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009].

Transcript Variant: This variant (2) lacks an alternate in-frame
exon in the 3' coding region, compared to variant 1. The resulting
isoform (2) lacks an internal segment near the C-terminus, compared
            to isoform 1.

Publication Note: This RefSeq record includes a subset of the
publications that are available for this gene. Please see the Gene
            record to access additional publications.
