            Summary: The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the
            cytidylyltransferase family. It is involved in the regulation of
            phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Several alternatively spliced
            transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for
            this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009].
            
            Transcript Variant: This variant (2) contains an alternate 5'
            terminal exon compared to variant 1. This results in the use of a
            different start codon, and a shorter isoform (2) with a distinct
            N-terminus compared to isoform 1.
