TITLE A new human ribosomal protein sequence, homologue of rat L9 JOURNAL Nucleic Acids Res. 21 (18), 4395 (1993) PUBMED 8415001 COMMENT REVIEWED REFSEQ: This record has been curated by NCBI staff. The reference sequence was derived from AY376242.1 and BQ286041.1. On Aug 11, 2005 this sequence version replaced gi:67944629. Summary: Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Together these subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit. The protein belongs to the L6P family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. Transcript Variant: This variant (2) has an additional segment in the 5' UTR, compared to variant 1. Variants 1 and 2 encode the same protein. ##Evidence-Data-START## Transcript exon combination :: BX332995.2, BM554492.1 [ECO:0000332] RNAseq introns :: single sample supports all introns ERS025084, ERS025088 [ECO:0000348] ##Evidence-Data-END## COMPLETENESS: complete on the 3' end.
