            Summary: This gene encodes a phosphoinositide phosphatase that
            regulates levels of membrane phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate.
            As such, expression of this enzyme may affect synaptic transmission
            and membrane trafficking. Multiple transcript variants encoding
            different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by
            RefSeq, Sep 2011].
            
            Transcript Variant: This variant (3) differs in its 5' UTR, 5'
            coding region and 3' coding region, and uses a downstream
            translational start codon, compared to variant 1. The encoded
            isoform (c) has a shorter N-terminus, a distinct C-terminus, and is
            shorter than isoform a.
